Scene One - Sainthill, England

Hudson Taylor has returned from China after an initial 7 years' missionary
service. He is tormented at night by an endless procession of the lost,
pleading with him to return to China.

Hudson challenges the audience to give up the comforts of England for
the sake of the lost in China. Anne, Emily, Jenny and Lewis accept the
call to China. William Berger becomes the faithful supporter in England.
Scene Three -London,
May 1866

The new party of recruits, with Hudson and Maria, sets out for China
on the ship 'Lammermuir'. On arrival in China, they soon discover that
there are a few adjustments to be made.
Scene Four -
Hangzhou, China

The little band of workers at last moves out onto the street corners
and crowded alleyways of their neighbourhood. Some are terrified but
others have greater confidence.

Some times the your missionaries felt insignificant in such a vast land.
Scene Six - Letters
from home
Track 22
After a time of discouragement, a letter from Berger back in England
is a blessing.
Scene Seven -
Feeling alone
Track 23
Jenny in a pensive mood strugles with singleness and tells God how much
better it would be if she were married.
Scene Eight -
23 August 1967
Track 24
Gracy Taylor dies, aged 8 years. "The Gardener came and plucked
a rose."

Hudson breaks down

Hudson faces a 'nightmare' of depression and despondency.
Scene Ten - Going
home

Anne has succumbed to the mounting pressures and sense of failure.
Scene Eleven
- 1870 year of grief

On February 4, little Samuel Taylor dies aged 5 years. Only 5 months
later, on July 20 baby Noel Taylor dies aged 13 days. 4 days later Maria
Taylor dies. Hudson is heart broken. God leads him no to a new tomorrow.

- 2000 and beyond
